Hello! My name is Jessica Woods. I am beginning my fifth year in the classroom. My first two years I taught at the middle school level and have taught Senior English for 2 years. Each level has had it's own challenges, but I love teaching Seniors. This will be my fourth season as the Head Volleyball Coach at Pea Ridge.
A little background knowledge: I graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 2006. I am a Blackhawk through and through. After high school, I played softball at North Arkansas College in Harrison. After I earned my Associates degree, I transferred to the University of Central Arkansas for a year and then finished my degree at Texas A&M, Texarkana. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in English in May of 2010. I married my husband, Shawn, on July 31, 2010. (He is also a hometown kid; he graduated in 2004.) My first year of teaching, I taught in Simms, TX at James Bowie Middle School. I coached Junior High Volleyball and Basketball and was the Assistant Softball Coach. I learned so much in my first year teaching! At the end of the year though, we decided it was time to come home and I got a job at PRMS.
On December 31, 2012, we welcomed our son Silas to the world. He is my bright spot to every day. Becoming a parent has changed my outlook on a lot of things, and I think it has helped me relate to my students and parents even more.
I love teaching in my hometown. There is nothing like being able to relate to your students and athletes.
